An outreach day took place on April 13, 2008 at the Atlanta Women's and Children's Shelter where volunteer Dentists from the Georgia Dental Diversity Group, dental students from the Medical College of Georgia School of Dentistry, and Georgia Tech's Pre-Dental Society provided free screenings for more than 50 patients, including 19 children who also received sealants. Gift bags with toothbrush, toothpaste, floss, and oral hygiene instructions were also distributed. Patients with urgent needs were referred to local free clinics.
