Pediatric Dental Emergency in Peachtree Hills

Toothache: When children have sore teeth, your best bet is to see a dentist as soon as possible. In the meantime, give acetaminophen and place a cold compress on the area.

Broken Teeth: We can help you repair broken teeth with fillings or crowns, and give antibiotics to reduce infection. We always do everything possible to save the tooth.

Cold or Canker Sores: These sores are usually fairly common in children, but may be evidence of the onset of serious disease. Always have a dentist check out sores if they become chronic.

Bleeding After Loss of Baby Tooth: Usually this is not cause for alarm, but if bleeding doesn’t stop after application of gauze and pressure, see a dentist.

Teeth Grinding: If your child has been grinding their teeth at night, it’s important they get seen so as not to throw their dental development out of alignment. Bone structure develops till age 27, so any evidence of teeth grinding should be addressed immediately.

Cut or Bitten Tongue, Lip or Cheek: This emergency situation is usually best addressed by applying ice and waiting for bleeding to stop. If it does not, the best course of action is to go to the emergency room.

Crucial Advice in an Emergency

Sometimes we cannot help you directly, but can refer you to a trusted oral surgeon for professional help. In cases such as knocked out teeth, for example, the people to whom we refer can’t be beat. They’ll help you make a health plan for your child’s surgery and recovery, and ensure the best possible healing.

We can also offer advice for emergency situations such as dental concussion, in which bones around the teeth may have been affected and need to be adjusted for continuing proper development.
